Trailer Thursday – New from San Diego Comic Con

So my favorite part about ComicCon is the fact that we get so much great scoop in one weekend! From new movie trailers to casting news to just fun photos of our favorite movie stars letting their inner geek flag fly.

Movie Scoop

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For – New Red Band Trailer – Watch for a cameo from Lady Gaga

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies – Here we get our first look at the last installment of The Hobbit trilogy.

Also I heard the panel at SDCC was very entertaining… read about it here and watch the full panel.

Interstellar – Christopher Nolan and Matthew McConaughey  also made an apperance to talk about their new film, Interstellar.

Mad Max: Fury Road – The first trailer was released for the highly anticipated reboot of the Mad Max franchise.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron

 – New posters were released and a sizzle reel was shown to the members of the panel audience. It’s still not available online yet. I’ll post it once it’s up somewhere. Here is the 8 sheet poster. We see The Scarlet Witch and QuickSilver in this poster.

I’m not sure if this is the true trailer or not that was shown at Comic Con but it’s the only one I could locate on the interwebs that looked offical.

TV Scoop

The newest trailer for Arrow Season 3 came out. I’ve just recently started watching Arrow and it’s an amazing well done show.

Also Stephen Amell recited the opening to Arrow at the panel at a fans request

Outlander  – First Trailer for the new STARZ Original Series (Outlander will premiere August 9th on Starz)

Constantine – The trailer for Constantine

Game of Thrones: Season 5 – New casting news from the HBO drama – nine new roles have been cast. Take a look here.

They also showed a blooper reel from Season 4 that is apparently hilarious… I haven’t watched it since I’m not caught up on Season 4… (Please don’t revoke my Geek Card!)

Legends – I had never heard for this show before but I’m super psyched for it! Based on the award-winning book by master spy novelist Robert Littell, Legends stars Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings) as Martin Odum, a CIA agent with the ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. The show stars Sean Bean, Ali Larter, Morris Chestnut, Tina Majorino, Steve Harris and Amber Valletta. Legends premieres on TNT on August 13th.

Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D – I have to admit that I gave up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D about 3 episodes in… and I’m going to have to start watching it again and catch up before it starts in the fall.

Here is the blooper reel from season 1 that delighted fans at their panel:

Gotham – The newest trailer for the series

Guess what!?!!? Comic-Con used to just be about Comics…. here are the very sparse highlights I was able to gather from the interwebs about what happened with Comics at Comic-Con.

Marvel announced Spider Woman will be receiving her own solo comic!

12 new titles from Image were announced. Most will be publishing in the next few months and into 2015. Check out the listing of titles with descriptions here.

Wonder Woman is also getting a new digital comic.

Marvel revealed some things about the new Avenger’s and X-Men books that will be publishing soon. Check out a recap of that panel here.

and of course there was a ton of Comic based news in the days leading up to the Con….

BatGirl gets a make over starting in BatGirl #35 on October 8th.

THOR will be a woman in the next part of the series – No longer is the classic Thunder God able to hold the mighty hammer, Mjölnir, and a brand new female hero will emerge worthy of the name THOR.

45 years after he made history as the first African American super hero, the Falcon will once again kick off a new era in Marvel Comics when he takes on the title of Captain America in ALL-NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 by Rick Remender and Stuart Immonen. More on

Just Plain Ole Fun Stuff

Cosplay: My new favorite thing after watching SyFy’s show ‘Heroes of Cosplay’. I love love love the work and craftsmanship that goes into a great Cosplay outfit!

Check out Buzzfeed’s Couples Cosplay Gallery.

The Verge also posted a gallery of their favorite Cosplayers from SDCC

There was a great display of artists takes on the Batman armor for Batman’s 75th anniversary, DC Comics had a team of artists and celebrities paint over the classic black mask and cape at the Cape/Cowl/Create exhibition. (Via The Verge)

There were also a ton of new posters revealed and given out at Comic Con. Take a look at some of the best ones here. (Via The Verge)

and most importantly – There was a panel called “Women Who Kick Ass” – featuring Sons of Anarchy‘s Katey Sagal, American Horror Story‘s Sarah Paulson, Orphan Black‘s Tatiana Maslany, Sleepy Hollow‘s Nicole Beharie, and Game of Thrones‘ Maisie Williams and Natalie Dormer. This Panel was to discussion on lots of topics from the role women have in film vs tv to what superhero each of the panelist would like to be.

Natalie Dormer of Game of Thrones, gave this great quote on roles for women in tv vs. film – ‘Where television is fantastic and is way ahead of film is it doesn’t feel the need to polarize women so much… Male writers, and I say this with all love and respect, often want to make a woman either the angel or the whore – make her the witch, or put her on the pedestal. When people ask me about Margaery, I say they’re not mutually exclusive. You don’t have to be practical and politically savvy and not be a good person. You can be a good human being and just be shrewd. I think all these women play similar characters.’

Entertainment Weekly gave great coverage of this panel. Read it here.
