Wanderlust – The Last Bookstore, Los Angeles
Hi Readers! I’m going to try to put up a new Wanderlust post every month…. I really want to do them every week but I don’t want to get over ambitious.
I had heard of this amazing place once before via a celebrity that I follow on Instagram… I’m pretty sure it was Felicia Day. So I was super excited to check it out just based on the photograph that she posted.
I was NOT disappointed. The atmosphere of The Last Bookstore is amazing. When walking in the doors of this bookstore it’s apparent that the owners and everyone who works there loves books. The first floor is filled with books, records and comics.
The coolest checkout counter ever!!!
They have 6,100 sq. ft. up in the ‘Labyrinth Above the Last Bookstore’ on the mezzanine level, with over 100,000 books all priced at one dollar each. It’s a bargain if you want to hunt for your favorites.

On their website they talk about how: “The name was chosen with irony, but it has become a self-fulfilling prophecy as physical bookstores are dying out like dinosaurs from the meteoric impact of Amazon and e-books.”
Also on the Mezzanine level is the the Spring Arts Collective. They have studios and galleries for artists to work and sell their pieces. There are also great works of art through out The Last Bookstore. I took some photos of the sculptures. I just loved the books on the scale. How cool!!
I hope that if you’re in Los Angeles you’ll take the time to visit The Last Bookstore. Buy a book and support this VERY unique establishment.
